Bucharest (part II)

In the afternoon of our day to Bucharest, with a well rested baby and rumbling tummies we braved out into the cold again. We were going to make the most of our stay no matter what! No sub 0 temperatures would scare us! :D

While she was asleep I took to the internet to figure out which eatery on Lipscani would be the best option for us (and there are quite a few!) and we walked out set to have an early dinner in the lovely ambiance of Caru' cu Bere. It is a marvellous piece of architecture and has been kept in impeccable state. One can still admire the paints, stained glass, mosaics and carved panelings.

We were led to a cute little table where we plopped our child in front of the tablet (like all parents do!) and proceeded to have a very enjoyable dinner. We served afinata to start off, then I ordered the Romanian beans soup with smoked pork and a consistent portion of their best pickles. My husband took the meatball soup, grilled chicken breast and rice with veggies. We shared a portion of papanasi with sour cream and sour cherry jam....

We then proceeded to Piata Constitutiei to part-take in the Christmas fair. Browsed around and admire the traditional craftsmanship of Romanians even though we knew that our luggage could not take any more items. Then we finally stopped in front of the main stage with a glass of mulled wine and listened to a beautiful Christmas carols concert until we could barely feel our feet. It was so cold!!
